Formatting snafu in A Pirate to Treasure

For those of you who pre-ordered A Pirate to Treasure, or purchased a copy before 9-23-2014, you may have noticed a problem. Apparently, if you read it using the black screen on your Kindle, the text disappeared. I never use the black screen on my Kindle, so when I sent a test copy to my Kindle to proof read, I didn't even notice it.
It appears the problem has been corrected now and you should be receiving an email from Amazon soon telling you how to download a new copy of the book. Please let me know if anyone noticed this problem, and also when, or if, you receive the email from Amazon. I am so very sorry for any inconvenience this caused any of my readers!!
Trust me, from now on I will read it on both a black screen and white screen before I submit it as final.

The Voodoo Woman has been released!

Hello ladies, and possibly some gentleman. The Voodoo Woman has been released a day early. Now remember, The Voodoo Woman is the four books in the Tropical Paradise Series which consists of Lynna’s Rogue, Lynna’s Beau, Lynna’s Promise, and Lynna’s Destiny. I don’t mean to beat a dead horse, but after repeating this over and over for a few months, many people still seem shocked when discovering that it isn’t a new book. I want all my fans to know this before purchasing a book they have already read. If you still wish to buy the book, hey, it’s fine with me. (Wink)

I have to admit The Voodoo Woman was a pain in the derriere to edit since the print book had to be under 828 pages and when I combined the four books I had over 950 pages. My only recourse was to shorten Lynna’s Rogue considerably, but after reading all 828 pages three times in two weeks I think I like this version better. Writers are all about stories that flow and I feel like this one does.

A Pirate to Treasure is almost ¾ finished. Lots of surprises in this book as well. Who knew Sean was… well never mind... wouldn’t want to spoil the surprise. (Wink. Wink)

And then I cannot wait to sink my teeth into Clara’s Song. I feel like I will enjoy writing this book most of all. So many story lines have popped into my head for her. I just have to decide which road I want her to travel.

Now, with all that said I am going to beseech, entreat, implore, plead, cajole (thank God for a thesaurus) and just flat out beg. I have had almost 16,000 visitors to my website this year, I have a few hundred email addresses from those of you who have contacted me there, and countless visitors to my Facebook page. In comparison Lynna’s Rogue has had only 141 reviews, Lynna’s Beau and Lynna’s Promise have like 50, and Lynna’s Destiny can’t seem to get above 20.

Come on help a girl out!!!!

If you have read my books and enjoyed them, please, please, please head over to Amazon and post reviews on all my books that you have read. I will be eternally grateful and love you forever.

Oh, one more thing. Remember the young man on the cover of Lynna’s Rogue. Well, you may or may not have known that he’s my son. He is also a struggling music artist. Now, he does hip hop and I know for many of you that isn’t your cup of tea. But, if any of you like that type of music here is the link to his you tube video  http://youtu.be/RQ3wYbBpLrY

Remember this is hip hop and there are colorful words and suggestive phrases, so if this offends you in any way please do not watch the video!

I hope you have a great 4th of July surrounded by family, friends, and fireworks. Be safe and keep in touch!

New Release Date for The Voodoo Woman and Prize Giveaway!!

Good morning. I was looking at the calendar this morning and a couple of things struck me. First, July 4th is on a Friday and I am assuming that for most families the celebrations will begin the Friday before on June 27th. So, I have decided to release The Voodoo Woman on Friday June 27, 2014 so those of you who want to take it to the beach, or wherever your vacation road leads you, can. And since it is 800 pages you will need a least a week, probably, although some of you have written that you read all four of the Lynna books in three days.

Now for the fun part!
I have come up with a few trivia questions from the Lynna books and I will be giving away 4 signed copies (or Kindle ereader version if you prefer) of The Voodoo Woman on June 27, 2014 to the first person in each category to post the correct answers on my Kitty Margo Facebook page. There will be 1 trivia question from each of the 4 books. So, if you haven't liked my Facebook page, please do so and join me there on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 2:00 in the afternoon Eastern Standard Time. I will be online to answer any questions you might have for a few hours.

The Voodoo Woman

Good morning all. A Pirate to Treasure, Jerica's Story is still on schedule for late summer. I also have a new/old book coming out around Independence Day. The Voodoo Woman is a compilation of the four Lynna books in the Tropical Paradise Series. I have never been a fan of the box set of books, so I decided to release one large 800 page book and promote it toward historical fiction rather than historical romance. The reason being that the following partial review of Lynna's Rogue prompted me to remove some of the sexier scenes in the books and wonder what percentage of historical romance readers really don't care for the sex scene at all. What do you think?

3.0 out of 5 stars Difficult to rate the book..... November 7, 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book was very good! I honestly would have given it 5 stars if it hadn't been for all of the sex.... There was hardly any language, and I was very glad of it.

The book was well written, keeps wondering what will happen next, and is a pretty good page turner! Again, I would have probably given it 5 stars if there hadn't been so much sex and almost rape here and there. It almost ruined the book for me frankly. Every time the next "love" scene came up, i couldn't help but think, "Again? seriously..."

If the author's other books have this much sex in them, I can't say I will read them. Otherwise, I would be a devoted fan!

Lynna's Destiny April 18

Chapter 1
Trinidad
March 1857

Doc Buzzard’s cottage was stifling hot. Everyone in the room was forced to repeatedly wipe sweat from their brows to keep it from dripping into eyes that were already stinging from the noxious odor in the room. Lynna wasn’t altogether certain whether it was sweat or tears running in rivulets down her flushed cheeks, nor did she really care. As her watery eyes met her husband’s steely gaze she was positive of only one thing. She had never seen his eyes as cold, as hard, or as unforgiving as in that very moment.
You could have heard a pin drop before the silence was broken by the haunting refrain of an owl hooting in one of the towering trees of the rainforest. Every eye in the room was riveted on Sean Devereux as his worshiping gaze fell upon the lavender eyed baby in his arms, his daughter. Unwrapping her blanket gently, he inhaled a sharp breath, his smile rapidly dissolving at the sight of her withered body.
Joshua watched quietly from across the room, suddenly overcome by an almost desperate urge to snatch the baby girl from the pirate’s possessive grasp and flee with her into the night, as his pounding heart warned it might be his last chance. Instead, he turned questioning eyes that shimmered with pain toward his wife and whispered one word, “Lynna?”
Lynna couldn’t look him in the eyes. He would see the truth, know she had lied. Instead she stared into the crackling flames of the fire, her voice trembling as she was forced to say the words she had prayed never to have to speak. “Sean is Makenna’s father, Joshua.”
Sean, ignoring the others in the room, couldn't pull his eyes away from the pitiful sight of his daughter’s emaciated little body. The urge was strong to rush Makenna to his grandmama. Lisbeth would undoubtedly pass out from the sheer joy of having a granddaughter and heir to Devereux Acres, but she and Chantilly would know how to fatten the little girl up and put color back in her cheeks.
All at once Doc Buzzard glanced nervously at Clara, seemingly in a dither about something. None of them had ever once seen Doc move at any speed quicker than a slow shuffle, but he actually almost scurried to the table and grabbed a candle to thrust at Clara. “Clara, you must take this candle to the creek behind the house and extinguish it in running water in order to completely break the spell on the girl.” When Clara didn’t move, but continued to gaze sadly at Joshua’s miserable countenance, he urged,  “Hurry, child! It must be done immediately.”
Willing to do anything for Makenna, Clara turned her back on Joshua, rushing toward the door with one hand cupped around the candle to prevent the flame from blowing out. Still worried about what this latest heartwrenching revelation might do to Joshua, she paused to glance over her shoulder and stumbled, almost dropping the candle at what she saw.
The man Clara loved as she would her own father appeared to have aged ten years in the last few minutes, slumped back in a chair with a forlorn look of defeat and loss that caused her heart to crumble.
Sadness was firmly etched in the troubled lines of Joshua's forehead, and his blood pounded through his veins as he watched Sean Devereux hold his daughter close to his heart, the pirate’s face glowing with pride, and pure joy.
With eyes gone cold and dark, Joshua felt his body go rigid as he watched Lynna move toward him, felt her tiny hand grasp his sleeve. Forcing his eyes to meet hers, he found her peering at him with pleading crystal blue eyes brimming with tears. Unfortunately his true feelings for her were accurately mirrored in his own unwavering gaze, sending icy shivers to rush down Lynna’s spine as she put both hands over her face to sob hopelessly.
His wife.
What a mockery of the institution of marriage. She had done nothing but lie to him since the day he had rescued her from the pirate.
Her lover.

Lynna's Destiny

It looks like we are on track for an April 18, 2014 release for Lynna's Destiny. I am now in the process of sending it out to my fantastic beta readers who will search for typos, errors, or things that just don't add up in the story, like for instance if it was July in one paragraph and in the next paragraph Joshua and Lynna are frolicking around in the snow wearing gloves and toboggans. Not cool?
Trust me, sometimes these girls, my readers, can be brutal. JK! But, truthfully, they have absolutely no problem giving me their honest opinion. That's what I love about them and why I beg for their assistance with each new book! They help make it the best it can be!
Counting down the days and looking forward to hearing your opinion of Lynna's Destiny and also what you think of my next book which will be the first installment in the Descendants of Sea Grove series.
Talk to you soon!

Meet the Author

For those of you in the piedmont of North Carolina, or anyone just passing through, I will be having a Book Signing and Meet the Author Day on Thursday, March 20th at the Norwood Library in Norwood, NC from 5pm until 7pm. I will be happy to sign your books, however the majority of my books are sold for ereaders. So, since I can't sign your handheld device, I will have bookmarkers on hand to sign so you can keep your place in your print books, if you still have any of those. I personally am addicted to my Kindle. Hope to see you there!

So Ready for Spring!

Spring fever has struck my household with a vengeance. When daffodils, which for some reason we were raised to call buttercups, and I have found it an almost impossible habit to break, start popping out of the ground I know spring isn't far behind. It's my favorite time of year.
I am definitely in a spring cleaning mood. I've parked the truck at the back door ready to clean out cabinets and closets and sends loads to Christian Ministries. I'm ashamed to say I still have plates and bowls and misc. junk stashed away from my original hope chest. I guess you could all me a pack rat since I hate to let anything go. Hate it! However, it is past time for a change.
Ready to add color!
Brighten the house!
Spring is right around the corner!
The BFF and I are headed to Charlotte later on in search of colorful, frilly, foo foo curtains for my living room. Oh, but the dear girl will probably have a migraine before the day is over, since we are polar opposites when it comes to decorating! She prefers modern decor in black, brown, and hues of a darker color. On the other hand, I am obsessed with pastels and anything Old South. Gone With the Wind memorabilia, Old South figurines, and pictures of the Battery and Rainbow Row in Charleston, SC line the walls and fill shelves of my house. Told you, I'm obsessed. It can't get too lacy, frilly or ruffly for me!
I guess the old saying is true. Opposites attract.

Baby, it's cold... make that freezing, outside!

Okay, I live in the South. We are not supposed to see temperatures of 2 degrees here. What's up with this crazy weather? For those of you who live up North, I honestly cannot even imagine what you have had to deal with this winter. What's the coldest temperature so far where you live?
I actually woke up to frozen water. This hasn't happened here in 20 years. My son came and insulated the well house and installed a light, so hopefully this will be the last time it freezes. However, I know I turned on the faucets a million times this morning attempting to get water. Thank goodness, I had bottled water for coffee or things would have gotten ugly, real quick.
Oh, I now have an inside dog. Now, don't get me wrong. I would never, ever be mean to, or mistreat an animal in any way, shape, or form, but I simply was not born with that animal loving gene that makes some people treat their four legged friends like a family member.
Until now.
When my son moved to the city, I inherited his 85 pound black lab, Hudson. He has been an outside dog for the last several months. Until the temperature dropped to 8 degrees. There was no way I could leave a defenseless animal outside in those temps, so I called my son and asked him to come give his dog a bath. He did, and brought him inside.
That was 6 weeks ago.
Nobody told me that once they came inside where it was warm and toasty, dogs didn't really want to go back out. At any rate, Hudson didn't. He loves it inside. So, I now have a house dog. And the most shocking part, to me at least, is that I love it.
Lynna's Destiny is coming along nicely. I'm almost halfway finished, and if all goes as planned I'm looking forward to an Easter release.
Stay warm and curl up with a good book!

Kitty

Happy New Year

Happy New Year everyone. Out with the old and in with the new, or so they say.
How was your Christmas? Mine was good, actually much better than expected. I received several wonderful gifts including a darling photo of all my grandchildren together and a picture book of the first year of my youngest granddaughter Clara's life.
(Yep, that's where the name Clara came from.)
However, there is one gift I will treasure forever. My very special daughter in law, Megan, made my brother and sister and I a quilt from pieces she cut from my mother and father's clothes. It was the most precious and thoughtful gift I have ever received. We are so blessed to have this sweet girl in our family.
Again, I have to thank you for all the kind emails I have received since the loss of my beloved parents. You will never know how much they have meant to me. I discovered that a simple email can lift your spirits on the darkest days.
Now to answer the question so many of you have asked. When will Lynna's Destiny be released?
You know I have this thing about publishing my books on holidays? Call me strange, but I just feel like people are off work then and can really settle back and enjoy a good book, especially in the winter. Add a fire, a blanket, and a hot toddy and we are all in heaven, right?
So, I was thinking of an Easter release. How does that sound?
Oh my, oh my! The emails I have received concerning the lavender eyed baby.
Some of you were not pleased.
Some of you loved the idea.
Some of you just want to know how it will all end.
As always, expect surprises in the final book.
And keep the emails coming. I love hearing from you!!

Have a great 2014!

Kitty
