Beautiful Jamaica

Well, I'm back from my cruise to Jamaica and we had a blast. The island is breathtakingly beautiful. But if you ask me the weather is rather mercurial on that island. We stepped off the ship around 10:00 in the morning and a wall of heat that felt like it was blowing directly out of a furnace hit us right square in the face. Honestly, it was such an awful, awful heat that we didn't think we could even make it down the walkway to the island. It was, without doubt, the most oppressive heat I had ever experienced. Then we had to wait in line, and wait for the bus to take us to the falls, and trust me we about melted into our shoes. There is absolutely no way I could live there.
It was a different world once we reached Dunn's River Falls. The icy cold water rushing down the waterfall felt heavenly on our sweat drenched bodies and we quickly forgot the mornings heat as we soaked in one of the many pools at every opportunity. It was a thrilling adventure and we made it all the way to the top of the falls. I should have bought the tee shirt that said, "I survived Dunn's River Falls". I would love to go back and do it again someday. Oh, and the chairlift through the rainforest to get to the falls was neat to.
Out of all the islands I have visited, at last count like 18, Jamaican vendors are by far the pushiest. They don't like to take no for an answer and practically accosted us at several turns. Then, on the return trip the weather was ideal. It felt like the temperature was in the mid 70's, when earlier I would have sworn it was at least 115.
I would have to agree with the cowardly lion, "Unusual weather we're having ain't it?"

I am now in the editing process for Lynna's Beau, Book Two in the Tropical Island Series. Release date should be sometime toward the end of May. I'll keep you posted. Now, get outside and enjoy this glorious weather!!
